Airports in Mexico City

Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX)

This is the main and most important airport in CDMX. Depending on where you are coming from, you may find the best options for reaching this airport.

Transportation from the airport:

  • Ride-share services (Didi and Uber) operate out of the airport
  • If ride-share apps are unavailable, your options are:
    • Take an authorized airport taxi
    • Use the metro
    • Rent a car (only suggested if you are a very experienced and daring driver)
  • Check the approximate ride cost on the Uber app to compare with taxi rates offered at the airport
  • If ride-share apps are working, set a pick-up spot that isn't too crowded for easier access

Tips:

  • Pre-download the ride-share app DiDi, which is popular in Mexico
    • At times, there may be more cars available than with Uber
  • If possible, share a ride with friends
    • More cost-effective
    • Always safer to have more company

Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU)

A newer and beautiful airport.

  • Be advised it is farther away than Benito Juarez Airport
  • Transportation in and out of the airport is somewhat more challenging (not impossible, though!)
  • Consider this airport if you are staying in Mexico for several days
  • You may find more affordable airplane fares

Transportation to Yautepec (Wedding Venue Location)

Option 1: Rideshare Direct to Yautepec

Cost:Between 50-75 dollars each way

  • Take an Uber or DiDi from CDMX all the way to your hotel in Yautepec
  • Four people fit per ride

Option 2: Bus from Mexico City to Yautepec

Cost:10 dollars each way

Bus service:ADO Bus

Route:

  1. Take a bus from Mexico City's Taxqueña bus station (Terminal Sur) to the Oaxtepec bus station in Morelos
  2. From Oaxtepec, hire a taxi to your accommodation (approximately 3 dollars)
  3. For return to Mexico City, follow the same route back to Taxqueña
  4. Take a cab or the metro from Taxqueña station to the airport

Important timing notes:

  • Check-in at most hotels and Airbnbs starts at 2 or 3 p.m.
  • If leaving CDMX on Friday for the Ice Breaker gathering, suggested departure time is around 12 p.m.
  • Alternative option: Tlayacapan has a lovely morning market
    • You could store your suitcase at the hotel and explore the market
    • Or stay in Yautepec since Thursday night

Traffic Advisory

Important to note: Traffic within CDMX is unpredictable.

  • Avoid riding during peak traffic hours:
    • Morning rush: 6 am to 10 am
    • Evening rush: 4 pm to 10 pm
